BAYO OLUGBEMI, FCMR - Immediate Past President
Mr. Olugbemi holds a B.sc in Accounting from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, Nigeria (1992) and a Masters in Business
Administration Degree (MBA) specializing in International Business
Management from the Lagos State University, Ojo, in 1998. Bayo is
an Alumnus of Leeds Metropolitan University, United Kingdom having
completed a Masters of Science (Msc.) Degree in Corporate
Governance and Ethics (2010) as well as Harvard Business School
where he completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP 179)
of the world’s foremost Business School in October 2010.
He started his Investment Banking Career in the Registrar’s
Department of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc in 1982 and rose through the
ranks to become a Registration Officer in 1991. He left Union Bank in
1991 for greener pastures and has pioneered many Registrars’ outfits
since then including RIMS Registrars, United Securities Registrars, Diamond Bank Registrars and NAL (now Sterling) Bank Registrars.
Bayo, a turn around specialist has been the Managing Director/Chief
Executive Officer of First Registrars Nigeria Limited (until recently a
wholly owned subsidiary of First Bank of Nigeria Plc, the Largest
Banking Group in Nigeria) since January 2000. First Registrars took
off in April 2000 with N10 Million share capital base and has grown to
a company with shareholders’ fund in excess of N6 Billion.
Bayo Olugbemi has participated in many notable public offerings in
the Nigerian Capital Market both as an Issuing House Officer and
Registrar. He has attended a number of courses both locally and
internationally. Some of these are: –

Registrars, The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, Institute of
Directors, Nigeria (IOD), The Certified Pension Institute of
Nigeria and The Chartered Institute of Taxation of
Nigeria. He is also an Associate Member of The Nigeria Institute of
Management (Chartered) and a Member of The Chartered Institute of
Stockbrokers and Certified International Investment Analysts.
